ESTATE PLANNING IN MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

I received a lengthy email from a potential client asking some good questions. So good, I thought to share them with all of you. My goal is to give my clients peace of mind and a great estate plan. This requires a holistic view of your assets, loved ones, and wishes.

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FROM HIRING TO COMPLETION?

The first contact is an informational phone call. After discovering your main goals and confirming I can help, I email a list of questions for you to complete as best as possible. Once the questions and your asset list are complete, we can set up an in-person meeting to meet and begin your project.

WHAT ASSETS DO I PUT INTO TRUST? HOW SOON CAN I TRANSFER ASSETS?

Upon completion and signing of the trust, the transferring of assets may begin. I may assist with transfers such as deeds or assignment of company shares. Other assets may need to be transferred into trust directly by the owner. For example, bank accounts or investment accounts require direct contact with the owner to sign and approve these transfers.

WHAT ARE REVOCABLE LIVING TRUSTS AND HOW ARE THEY PART OF MY ESTATE PLAN?

A revocable living trust is a great estate planning tool. It holds your assets, maintains your privacy and control, and avoids probate. A revocable trust uses your social security number when you are alive, thus no extra taxes or separate tax documents for any assets placed into your trust. And it protects you from guardianship and probate court involvement if done properly.
